It all began back in April 2005...

We first met in 2005 when working at Carluccio's in Windsor. We worked in different sites and Mark spent time working with Antonio Carluccio himself and spent some time at ICIF culinary institute in Turin. In early 2011 we decided to leave Carluccios behind and embark on running our own pub restaurant; this was The Three Tuns in Henley on Thames. It was a big challenge and a huge learning curve but over time the reputation of good food and a warm welcome began to grow and The Three Tuns becam a very successful business. In early 2014 Mark decided it was time for pub number two! We then found The Chequers Inn and we loved it. We have now said goodbye to the Tuns so we can concentrate our efforts on The Chequers and Sandra can pursue her business of bespoke handmade soft furnishings (SandraDugganbespoke soft furnishings). We still love being at The Chequers and hope you will enjoy your time spent with us,

and so to the present...

 

The Chequers continues to develop and grow as more people discover us and recommend us to others, word of mouth is certainly a great way to grow your reputation as long as its good! We don't always get it right and we are never complacent so we know there are still many things we need to do and develop, improve, and continue to grow.

We hope that with a simple ethos of using great ingredients, local where possible to produce high quality delicious food combined with attentive but relaxed service with a personal touch will continue to pave the way to success...
